The BA(Hons.) program in English with a concentration on Literature offers you the skills to analyze texts and cultures, from early to modern writing. Through critical reading, writing and analysis, listening and speaking skills, you will learn how narratives work to define individual and collective experiences.
The program offers you the opportunity to explore Indian Writing in English, American and British literature, World literature in English, Conflict Literature, Nobel Literature, Translation Studies; Close Reading of a wide variety of literary texts; European Classics, Theatre, Comparative Literature, American Literature and Visual Arts, critical theories and methods, and interdisciplinary studies. You can choose from a variety of courses to further explore the areas of race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, wide-ranging theories (feminism, marxism, postcolonialism, migration and diaspora theories), literary devices, literary histories and traditions.
Practical experience can be gained through research, writing, close reading of texts and narratives; and internships that prepare you for different careers. The undergraduate programs also prepare you for continued studies in graduate and professional programs. With additional qualifications like Masters and Phd, you can further improve your career prospects.
