With the strongest urge to respond to the need of quality education at an affordable cost for the people of the North Eastern Region of India, down town Charity Trust established a multi-disciplinary university in the year 2010. The first of its kind, built with modern ideas and methods, Assam down town University is located at Panikhaiti, Chandrapur in the city of Guwahati, 12 km away from Dispur, capital of the state, Assam.
Assam down town University (AdtU) is one of the leading universities of North East India, offering its students an unique amalgamation of professional and academic excellence. Being the largest educational group in Assam, AdtU has more than 8000 students and over 250 faculty members. Hostel facility is available for both boys and girls separately inside the campus but as seats are limited so AdtU follows first in first serve basis. Each hosteller gets a good steady bed, a sturdy table & chair, a wooden clothes stand, and a cupboard for storage. To ease the pressure on students in their daily activities, washing machines are installed to save time and effort. The campus also provides free usage of WiFi to ensure that all students can effortlessly stay in touch with their social media handles and equip themselves with the latest news and updates in all fields.
The Career Development and Placement Cell (CDPC) at Assam down town university plays a crucial role in facilitating the students to explore the world of employment and new career avenues. Besides, the Career Development and Placement Cell also provides guidance to the students on creating a clear career plan and setting realistic career goals.
To enhance the employability skills of the students specialized training programs in soft skills, analytical skills, technical skills and aptitude skills are imparted to the students. Our students are groomed with utmost concern to be the assets of the organization. Also the cell organizes internship for the students to gain practical exposure, learn new skills and add to their knowledge base while gaining confidence in their abilities.
CDPC arranges Industrial visits for the students so that they can have an insight of work- culture of the companies. Industrial visits provide our students an excellent opportunity to get familiar with emerging trends and technology. It also enhances student's practical knowledge along with deep understanding of theoretical concepts and they also get exposure to working procedure of Industries.
CDPC also arranges guest lectures for the students. Listening to a guest speaker and participating in ensuing discussions can be an invaluable part of University education. Guest lectures enable the students in enriching the latest updates regarding avenues for higher studies and jobs as well as the need of the industry.
AdtU organise a mega placement drive in its campus every year where more than 50 companies participate.
